Alkalize Your Chi & Stop Being Bitter—Critical Nutritional Elements for a Balanced Life Source

Think of your body as an experimental test tube. Every time you plop somethin in it, it will either sizzle up & explode or become vibrant & colorful—it’s all dependent on your health habits. The reaction can either be self-sabotaging or self-amplifying.

pH is a primary driver for your test tube trajectory. The more alkalizing your lifestyle, the better you feel; the more acidifying, the crummier you feel. The question is: How do I alkalize my chi?

You can’t alter your bodily pH all that much, & if you did, you would get nasty sick (or die).

So before I dive into the ‘how’ of alkalizing your one and only vessel, I will touch a bit on the what and why of pH.


Put simply, pH is a measurement of how acidic or alkaline something is.


The pH value ranges from 0–14:

  • Acidic: 0.0–6.9

  • Neutral: 7.0

  • Alkaline (or basic): 7.1–14.0

Your body’s blood maintains a pH slightly alkaline around 7.4. Anything crazy less or more than this can manifest dis-ease (or worse, it can be fatal).

However, it’s important to note that pH varies greatly within your body. While some parts are acidic, others are alkaline — there is no set level.


For instance, the gastric juice in your stomach right now is jam-packed with hydrochloric acid (HCl), giving it a pH of 2–3.5, which is quite acidic. This acidity is necessary to break down food and kill off bad guys that slide down the esophagus.


Then you have most of your organs like the liver which maintains a neutral pH (around 7), which is easiest for its enzymes, such as catalase, to work in.


It’s critical for your well-being that the pH of your blood remains constant at around 7.4.

If it were to fall outside of the normal range, your cells would be like “Yo WTF! Celly, honey, grab the kids! The apocalypse is here!” and you would die very quickly if untreated.


Because of this, your body has many effective ways to closely regulate its pH harmony via acid-base homeostasis.


It’s pretty much impossible for food to change the pH value of your blood, so my goal isn’t to get you to think eating alkaline-enhancing foods will alter your pH.


My goal is for you to eat, drink, move and LIVE alkaline so you can enhance your entire micro and macrocosm of life.

I’m also not promoting the generic ‘Alkaline Diet’ that’s being thrown around left and right in the nutrition realm, claiming to cure all diseases and promote pH balance.


There is no statistical evidence for this diet actually working to boost alkalinity. Therefore, I’m promoting “Alkaline Living” which includes all aspects of holistic health.


If you want to be a test tube that is bubbly and stable, built upon fortitude, and energizing AF, focus on alkalizing your cellf (Yes, your “cellf”).


Here are the STRONGEST FOUNDATIONS YOU MUST FOLLOW for a healthy, robust and non-acidic n' toxic temple:


FAST MORE THAN YOU FEAST

When we eat, we shut off certain mechanisms in our body designed for repair and TLC. This isn’t a bad thing, until you do it repetitively long-term. Snacking every couple of hours and throughout the day for 14-16 hours everyday (outside of sleep pretty much) is not ideal for your health. There are consequences to feasting more than fasting, and the research is now coming out with stellar data on this. I have been intermittent fasting intiutively 14 hours on average everyday for about 4 years now since 2017. I aim for 12-16 hours daily so I can give my body the opportunity to revamp any unneeded inflammation, cancer, or harmful invaders and dispose of them. Fasting in itself enhances longevity immensely due to autophagy signals increasing without intake of calories or any food source. This is counterintuitive, I know. Technically we aren’t giving our cells nourishment from external food and instead we are depriving them of nature’s fuel. However, we actually are feeding our bodies when we don't chow down for long bouts of time; our body is eating itself. Eating up metabolic waste that is floating around our cells and isn’t favorable for our wellness.


Take home message: eat 2-3 meals a day within 6-12 hour periods, without snacking, to harvest more energy, cognitive power and a better ability to recover and repair.


ENJOY ALKALIZING FOODS & SUPPS

Most fruits and vegetables, nuts, seeds, and legumes are alkaline-promoting foods, so they're fair game. Dairy, eggs, meat, most grains like wheat, and processed foods, like Nature Valley Bars and Goldfish, fall on the acid side. The key is BALANCE. I’m not saying cut all the acid-producing food, that is nonsense. Eating organic meat from grass-fed and pasture-raised sources, wild-caught fatty fish, and organic eggs are key for filling in your nutritional gaps. I am not a huge fan of the vegan diet long-term (more than a month or 2) because you are indeed cutting out essential nutrients for a groovy lifespan like B12, iron, carnitine, creatine and so many more, but I am indeed a fan of incorporating a great deal of nourishing anti-inflammatory herbs and plants in their whole form. Asparagus, cruciferous veggies, berries, and a ton of superfoods are what brings vitality and keeps your cells operating in an alkaline-esque state. These foods are what fuel your cells; not processed junk.


My favorite way to amp-up my cellf is by taking Purium products on the daily, especially the Power Shake aka Liquid Sunshine on the daily. This 100% organic, clean, and scrumptious apple berry greens (best I have ever tasted out of 10+ greens I have experimented with) shake includes: spirulina, millet, carrot juice powder, wheatgrass juice powder, oat grass juice powder, buckwheat, quinoa, chia seed and a shit ton of LOVE! I break my fast with this daily to power my mitochondria and day ahead, all for around $2 a day!



REDUCE CAFFEINE, SUGAR & UNPRONOUNCEABLE INGREDIENTS

Our vessels on this planet, our physical bodies handcrafted by God, were created to survive off of 1-ingredient foods. Our physiologies survive AND thrive off of nature -- not man-made chemicals, additives and added sugars. My point isn't to make you feel like shit for eating that Poptart but to invite you to open up the beautiful, vast world of ancient nutrition.


I primarily follow a primal-like, Mediteranean, plant-rich diet that is super low in processed, unpronounceable ingredients (like these additives found in this blog here) so I can maintain a lean physique, energy throughout the day and a happy, driven and focused mood.


Think about it, what sounds better: Ethylenediaminetetracetic acid OR Glutathione? Hopefully you’re thinking the latter, because that is our master antioxidant that is found in a ton of nutrient-dense plants and herbs and organic meats. The more glutathione we have, the longer we'll live and the better we will feel!


Okay, so we covered decreasing unpronounceable ingredients and added sugars to improve alkalinization, now let's discuss how caffeine is the world’s best brain booster, but can also be your worst enemy if not consumed with caution. I like to stick to 2-3 cups tops of organic french press coffee daily BEFORE noon-1pm so I don’t have trouble sleeping. Caffeine has a half life of about 4 hours, meaning that if you drink 150mg at 9am, 4 hours later at 1pm you have 75mg in your system. Then when 5pm strikes the clock, you will have about 35mg in your system and by 9pm, around 15mg until you finally process it completely by then early AM! Okay, so caffeine as we know can sabotage sleep but it also can sabotage your nervous system by activating your fight or flight response (anxiety can erupt or jitteriness) which messes up your cells balance and alkaline-living state. Coffee is indeed rich in antioxidants and polyphenols which is great for immunity and anti-aging, but too much can really tweak out your cells' response to stress, your natural energy, sleep and metabolism. Aim for no more than 300mg a day (and stick to consuming all caffeine prior to noon).


DRINK PURE SPRING WATER (WATER IS LIFE)

How much water fills up the earth? About 75%. How much water are humans made out of on a cellular level? About 75%. Nature gives clues, we must listen.


Not all water is created equal. Water is not just H2O like our chemistry teachers in high school brainwashed us to think. Water carries wisdom in many different forms. It is indeed the most “fluid” thing we humans could ask for! I like to aim for a minimum of a gallon for fresh, filtered, spring water daily, or around an .8-1 ounce per pound of water a day in body weight (depending on exercise level, sweating capacity, disease state, etc).


STOP DRINKING UNFILTERED TAP WATER


Tap water is unregulated by the government, despite what we may think. It is (slightly) filtered toilet water, sewage water, and sick sea water that is loaded up with chemicals like chlorine to kill bacteria, and other nasties like fluoride that should not be ingested at the levels we humans are consuming on a daily basis in copious quantities. Not drinking enough water is certainly important, but the right source is the first thing to put your mind to because, as you read earlier, not all water is created equal. Nestle Pure Life (cough cough) is far from “pure”. Nestle not only is destroying the planet because of the millions of tons of plastic production each year but the water is basically like drinking tap but 5% better due to further filtration practices. On the other hand, I recommend bringing a nifty refillable container to a local grocery like Natural Grocers. They have reverse osmosis or even spring water dispensers you can use every week! Fill your membranes with what you deserve -- clean pure spring water! Plus you're not killing the planet! Win win!
