My Favorite Superfood Smoothie for Gut Health, Muscle, Mindset & Energy

Almost everyday I break my fast (“breakfast”) with a potent smoothie chock full of earth’s most nutrient-dense superfoods. It’s amazing isn’t it? We can go online right now to order some of the most effective plant concentrates, proteins, and ingredients to amp-up our physiology and life. Why start your day with a Krabby Patty when you can nourish your innergarden with this superfood smoothie? (Recipe inside!)

I don’t enjoy an average joe smoothie on a daily basis. Heck no.

In fact, I factor in a plethora of super dee dooper plants, proteins and health supplements within this crazy holistic concoction.


My primary goal with this stack is to:

  • Stave off immune system degradation at a faster rate

  • Repair DNA

  • Improve mood and focus

  • Bolster digestion, gut health and microbiome

  • Upgrade skin and radiancy

  • Improve performance, energy and recovery

  • Increase lifespan


Yes, these are all possible with a daily superfood smoothie.


The key is to acknowledge that there is an endless array of ways to go about whipping up earth’s most nutrient dense smoothie, due to the fact that there are hundreds of thousands of unique super plants and botanicals on this planet.


What makes a superfood super anyway?


The ability for a whole foods plant to retain and contain a concentrated amount of a healing substance or nutrient that has been proven to greatly improve the health in the human body. Whether its boosting immunity via antioxidant load or its adaptogenic and able to amplify libido and balance hormones, a superfood contains a “special sauce” that makes it stand out from the crowd of plants.


What is NOT a superfood?


A plant food that does not contain a highly concentrated level of nutrients or compounds that can tremendously impact one’s health.


Examples of NON-superfoods:

  • Banana - sure contains a good amount of prebiotic fiber and potassium, but spikes blood sugar quite a bit and lacks other essential nutrients and antioxidants

  • Apple - similar to a banana, definitely a healthy addition to your plate, but doesn’t stand a chance against the ones I’ll mention soon

  • Tomato - loaded up with lycopene, which has been linked to many health benefits, including reduced risk of heart disease and cancer. They are also a great source of vitamin C, potassium, folate, and vitamin K but contain a high amount of alkaloids, which are found in nightshades and can trigger immune issues

  • Cauliflower - fairly high in vitamin C and a good source of folate, but it also a hefty cruciferous veggie that can be difficult to digest and assimilate and can cause bloating and digestive issues

Now here are a couple examples I am not singling out and saying avoid, I am plainly saying don’t necessarily eat these on a daily basis due to their nutrient content. Apples are the best out of that group mentioned above, but still, aim for TRUE SUPERFOODS.


Okay so here is an example of my daily superfood smoothie I drink on a almost daily basis:

Healthy Fats:

  • ½ - whole Avocado

  • 1 cup coconut milk

  • 1-3 tbsp pumpkin seeds

  • or 1-3 tbsp hemp seeds

  • or 1-3 brazil nuts

  • or 1 tbsp almond butter

Additional Fiber (1-2 tbsp)

  • Acacia fiber

  • or psyllium husk fiber

  • or flax meal

GROOVY SUPERFOODS

  • 1 tbsp cacao nibs or powder (terrasoul brand)

  • 1 tsp cracked cell chlorella powder

  • 1 tsp spirulina powder (sometimes I will put separately with Power Shake so I don’t sabotage flavor of smoothie due to strong taste)

  • ½ cup frozen wild blueberries

  • 1 tbsp fresh ginger root

  • 1 tsp maca powder (terrasoul brand)

  • 1 tsp turmeric powder (terrasoul brand)

  • ¼ tsp black pepper

  • Mushroom powder (Stamets 7)

Additional Sweetener

  • Organic liquid stevia or monk fruit


There ya have it! A balanced Macro Mania Meal!
