Drinking Tonight? Do this Before, During & After the Party to Prevent a Hangover

I‘m not much of a drinker, nor am I telling anyone to throw down shots, but I’m a realistic dude & I know many people drink on occasion. I myself enjoy 100% agave tequila, club soda vodka, or some fine red wine on a night out. No matter how much you have, you can still sabotage sleep, enhance a headache & ignite an inflammatory storm if you don’t eat, move or supplement right. Don’t want one next time you partay? Before the Party

Resistance Training

Something about picking heavy stuff up for 20 minutes to an hour that can really abolish the morning dew in your noggin. If you want superb clarity the next day, hit up your local gym or go to the park to crank out a heavy HIIT workout. Resistance training, or weightlifting particular, increases insulin sensitivity and supports healthy blood sugar, while bolstering up the immune system. I like to get a solid heavy-lifting workout in about 2-3 hours prior to drinking. I have tested this out myself and notice a massive difference in food cravings, blood sugar, sleep and energy the following day.


We all have heard it, “Drink a TONNN of water if you are guzzling down alcohol.” The main problem with this is, alcohol is a powerful diuretic and no matter how much water you chug, you aren’t absorbing the precious h2o. One way to combat this is drink your water with mineral-rich salt like Celtic sea salt (I like to put ⅛ - ¼ tsp per 16oz) prior, during and after the party. This along with a nutritious ionic element supplement or some coconut water (after that workout) can help you keep potassium, sodium, calcium, magnesium, manganese and chloride at peak levels.

Low Glycemic Diet

Fatty cold water fish like wild caught salmon, mackerel, sardines, herring and anchovies will also do justice! Also—avoid a ton of omega-6 rich foods like chips, crackers and snacks which are soaking in soybean, sunflower and canola oils. These oils are a shit-storm for your health anyways!


Extra Virgin Olive Oil

Olive oil is rich in a plethora of antioxidants and fatty acids that can combat the inflammatory effects of alcohol. If I don’t eat a fatty fish meal prior (omega-3s), then I will simply take a hearty shot or 2 of a bitey organic extra virgin olive oil an hour or two prior to drinking. Morning After the Party

Walking and Light Exercise with Sunshine

Trust me, as much as you want to lounge around all day on the couch vegging out on Netflix, I highly recommend you step outside, get a 20 minute or so brisk walk in, maybe jam to some music or your favorite podcast, and bask in the warming sunshine. The sun alone will help immensely with your mood and energy, but that extra edge walk will enhance the flow of lymph throughout your body (cleansing out the metabolic waste from drinking) and enhance you recovery BIG TIME.
